Physical Fitness and Hiring Workshop
Time & Location
About the Event
The Grand Rapids Police Department is hosting a Physical Fitness and Hiring Workshop on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 8:00am - 12:00pm. The event is taking place at the Catholic Central High School Gym. Attendance to the event is by RSVP only, and attendees will be able to sign up for a specific time slot.
By signing up for a time slot, attendees will be able to take the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) physical fitness test. This physical fitness test is required to be taken and passed by any police candidate seeking to be hired by the Grand Rapids Police Department.
This, voluntary, physical fitness test is for familiarization and practice only. No scores will be tracked or retained by the Grand Rapids Police Department. Attendees are allowed to track and write down their own scores. We recommend participants of the physical fitness test consult with a physician prior to participating in physical activities. We require participants be at least 18 years old by February 2, 2019.
The test will take approximately 40 minutes, allowing for you to see a demonstration of how to complete each exercise properly and attempt it yourself. Following the test, attendees will be able be able to speak with police recruiters and human resources representatives.
Each attendee will receive handouts referencing how to prepare for the MCOLES physical fitness test, the Grand Rapids Police hiring timeline, and other important information.
Here is a link to the MCOLES website that outlines the physical fitness test. We recommend being familiar with this information prior to registering for the workshop.
Email notification with more information will be sent out in the week prior to the event to those who have registered.
